None of those methods have shown me any obvious errors, and I'm really out of ideas beyond deleting everything, running a fresh install and going laboriously through every single install at a time. I tried to use TES4Edit to try find conflicts, but I honestly not sure what I'm seeing (the files referencing things like what background colours mean are all apparently out of date, so no luck using that).

I've been installing with Wrye Bash, tried sorting my load order with BOSS and LOOT separately to try get it to work. First it crashes on the Bethesda logo with the "Oblivion has stopped working" dialogue, but once the Oblivion.ini file is deleted it will get as far as the text loading screen before the main menu before freezing and becoming entirely unresponsive. Having not played Oblivion in ages, I installed it recently and decided to install all my mods first on the fresh install however, something is causing the game to always crash before the main menu.
